  I cannot see the tar sands going away any time soon. With the doors open to foreign investment thanks to big biz friendly governments, the only thing that can happen is expansion. Continued use of oil products by consumers, particularly gas and plastics, will keep the game in play. The only way I see any end to this expansion is to get people to become dependant on alternative energy sources. Why not tackle this from this perspective more? Vilifying the tar sands will only get you so far imho.
  
  As for Gerry, I love his cartoons. They really reach the level of cynic in me that I find always lurks in my bones.

  The Montana pipeline leak has no bearing on what product was being transported inside of it.
  
  Tar sands are "upgraded" on site in Fort McMurray at a variety of sites. This process removes the sand and other impurities. The upgraded bituminum product flowing the lines is no different in terms of transportation than any other product.
  
  One major cause of pipeline failures is corrosion and cracking in pipe buried underground many years ago when quality control was not the best.
  
  There are many relevant arguments to make against development of the tar sands but pipeline failure is not one of them.
  
  Pipeline failure nowadays is the result of lack of intensive inspections, decisions to leave known defects in the pipe without replacing it and other cost cutting measures decided by CEO's and other senior executives who receive healthy bonuses for saving their corporations money.

  There must be a print error in the paragraph prior to the Hummel's cartoon. You have printed "Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency" and shouldn't it be the "Canadian Environmental Acceptance Agency"?

  The dirty tar sands, has a very long arm. The stink of the tar sands, is making people in the Peace area ill.
  
  Sarnia, Detroit and Windsor's tar sands refineries, are contaminating their drinking water.
  
  The Montana pipeline burst, may have had, the dirty oil sands in their pipeline.
  
  Our beloved Whooping Cranes, fly right over the tar sands. They are at great risk. If they land in the filthy sludge ponds as the ducks did, they will perish.
  
  Harper gave Campbell, the High Commissioners appointment to England. His aim, is to bring the dirty tar sands oil to England. However, the Brits have had protests against the dirty crude. Campbell will not be welcomed. The Brits don't take government crap, as we Canadian citizens do.
  
  Nor is their paparazzi gagged, as BC's media is. There are people who have sent info on Campbell's lies, corruption, and the thefts of our BC rivers and our BCR.
  
  I am hoping the video, The Straight Goods, Grant G. posted on his sight, finds it's way to the paparazzi in London, as well.
  
  Harper has embarrassed Canadians, AGAIN!! Sending a criminal, like Campbell to London. I believe, Campbell's drunk mug shots, were also sent to England.
